World Health Education Foundation proudly presents:
Come meet us live, IN-PERSON at the UCLA ballroom Los Angeles for a very special evening with an expert panel, special guest speakers and the hosts of the Migraine World Summit.
Tuesday, March 19 2019, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM PST
UCLA Luskin Conference Center, 425 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles (Westwood), CA, United States
Q: If I can’t arrive until after 4pm, is that too late to join in?
A: We know LA traffic can be difficult and we are making every effort to help our guests avoid it. We recommend arriving a little early, enjoying “The Orange Carpet” and mingling with fellow guests prior to registering and the welcome reception. Seating in the ballroom will occur no later than 4:35pm, which is the latest arrival time. Doors close at 4:45pm for the 4:50 program start.
Q: If I have to leave before 8, is that okay?
A: If you do, you’ll miss some of the best parts of the program, including our 1:1 celebrity interviews and sneak preview of MWS 2019 talks. You’d also be taking a seat from someone who could stay for the entire program, and seats are limited.
Q: What should I wear?
A: In short, come as you are and be comfortable. We encourage “festive casual” but you can go glam if you want — some of us will dress for the Orange Carpet. If you’re into colors, feel free to wear Migraine World Summit orange or migraine awareness purple. Above all, be comfortable.
Q: Where is Parking and how much does it cost?
A: Self-service parking for Luskin Conference Center visitors is available in the LCC garage and on Level 4 in Parking Structure 8. For directions to the LCC and more information, click here. The cost for 4 hours to all day is $11-12. Visitors must pay for parking at the nearest parking pay station by entering your license plate number BEFORE you leave your vehicle, using cash or credit card. You may want to take a picture of your spot number so you can easily find your car after the event.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: The show must go on. Chance of rain in March is not high, but if it does rain, please allow some extra time for travel and bring an umbrella. The event will be held indoors.
Q: I’m coming in from out of town. Is there an event hotel?
Yes, the UCLA Luskin Conference Center offers hotel rooms as well. You can book your own room using this link and the promo code LCCEVT. In addition, there are several hotels in Westwood and western Los Angeles. Less expensive hotels are available at LAX, approximately 12 miles away and accessible by shuttle.
Q: Can I bring a guest?
A: Yes! Please make sure to register your guest for a ticket ahead of time with their email address once you’ve verified their interest in attending. We welcome people with migraine as well as your caregivers and family members who are 12 or older.
Q: Can I transfer the invitation?
A: No, invitations are not transferable. We expect to have a waiting list. If you are not able to make it, kindly change your status on our Event Registration Site. If it’s less than 24 hours prior to the event, email us at Info@MigraineWorldSummit.com to cancel your ticket so we can give your seat to the next person on the waiting list.
Q: Are children welcome?
A: Children over 12 and accompanied by an adult are welcome to join. Please make sure to register them for a ticket ahead of time. No childcare will be provided.
Q: Are caregivers welcome?
A: Yes! Please make sure to register your guest for a ticket ahead of time.
Q: What if I have to cancel or my guest cannot make it?
A: Please let us know as soon as possible if you cannot make it. We expect to have a waiting list. If you are not able to make it, kindly contact change your status on our Event Registration Site. If it’s less than 24 hours prior to the event, email us at Info@MigraineWorldSummit.com to cancel your ticket so we can give your seat to the next person on the waiting list.
Q: What if I am running late or hit traffic?
A: We know LA traffic can be difficult. Doors close at 4:45pm for the 4:50 program start. If you cannot arrive before 4:45pm, kindly contact us at Info@MigraineWorldSummit.com to cancel your ticket so we can give your seat to the next person on the waiting list with a Standby Seat.
Q: My ticket says “Standby Seat.” Should I still plan to come?
A: Check our MWSLive Ticket Hub on EventZilla for the latest availability. If the event fills up before you are able to get a ticket, you can register for a WaitList or StandBy ticket.
Q: Are healthcare providers welcome?
A: Yes! However, a limited number of tickets are available for healthcare providers as this is a patient-focused event. Preference will be given to those HCPs who are affiliated with UCLA or those practicing headache medicine.
Q: Are we allowed to record with our phones?
A: We encourage you to take pictures and video on the Orange Carpet, in front of our Photo Wall, and with new friends you may meet during the Welcome Reception. Photography, videography and audio recording during the program is not allowed. You are welcome to take pictures outside the ballroom and before the program begins.
Q: Will there be a transcript of the program?
A: Yes, a transcript will be made available at the conclusion of the Migraine World Virtual Summit for those who choose to order an All Access Pass. We will also provide paper and pen to take notes during the program.
Q: How can I ask questions of the medical experts appearing at the event?
A. All confirmed guests will be given the opportunity to submit a question for the experts in advance.
Q: If my question doesn’t get answered during the Opening Night, how can I ask the experts?
If you are not confirmed or unable to attend, we recommend you ask your question online during the virtual Summit. You can do that one of three ways:
1) Find an expert or experts covering a topic most relevant to your question, and watch their talk for answers. If you do not hear your question addressed, you can add it to the Facebook comments below their talk. Many experts respond to these questions themselves.
2) Submit your question to our Community Care team using the “Let’s Talk” button in the lower right corner of your screen on MigraineWorldSummit.com. Our volunteers will do their best to respond and direct you to a talk or resources with relevant answers.
3) Ask Migraine World Summit Hosts Carl and Paula on the last day of the Summit during the Live Webinar. While they aren’t doctors, they’ve interviewed 130+ doctors and specialists and can direct you where to find answers they’ve learned from the experts.
Remember, we cannot give medical advice for your specific situation, but we may be able to address your question based on medical evidence and clinical practice.
Q: Will there be a meet and greet or autograph session with the celebrities?
A: There will not be a meet and greet or autograph session with the celebrities, but we encourage you to give them a shout out on their social media pages, which will be provided during the program.
Q: Will I be able to meet the speakers?
A: There will not be a meet and greet for the speakers. However, you will be given the opportunity to submit your questions in advance for the chance to ask your questions of the experts directly during the program. Remember, they cannot give medical advice for your specific situation, but they may be able to address your question based on medical evidence and clinical practice.
Q: Will I be able to connect with other people in my community?
A: A local support system is important in managing a chronic disease like migraine. We encourage you to look for tables in the ballroom arranged by city and connect with other people who live close by. Your city will be printed on your name tag.
Q: Will I appear on camera?
A: When you register for the event, you are giving consent to be videotaped during Q&A. If you prefer not to be visible on camera, we recommend that you choose a seat in the back third of the room away from the stage.
Q: Do I have to appear on camera?
A: No, it’s entirely optional. If you don’t want to appear on camera, we recommend that (just like a celebrity) you wear your sunglasses and raise your hand when passing our Orange Carpet photographers so they don’t take your picture. Inside the ballroom, you will not be visible on camera if you sit in the back third of the room away from the stage.
Q: Will my name be shared or made public as a guest at this event?
A: Your privacy is very important to us. We know that not everyone wants to be identified as a person with migraine. Guests will be invited to wear name tags with your first name and city only. Your name, email and information will not be shared in public or with any third party, including sponsors. You will not get spam from us. To ensure you get our surveys and essential event information, we recommend you add Info@MigraineWorldSummit.com to your address book. You are welcome to unsubscribe at any time.
Q: If I don’t feel well during the event, is there a dark quiet place to lay down?
A: Yes. We will offer a Relief Room nearby the reception area and ballroom that is dark and quiet should you need to take a break.
Q: How much walking and standing is required for guests?
A: The Luskin Conference Center rear entrance is a short walk from the Parking Structure 8, including some stairs or an elevator. Once you’ve arrived, you can expect to be on your feet for 30-45 minutes before the ballroom opens, where there is a seat for all registered guests. Should you need to sit down during that period, there are benches and seats in the public areas of the Luskin Center.
Q: Will there be a private room to pump breast milk?
A: Yes. We will screen off an area in our Relief Room should anyone need to pump.
Q: Will there be many migraine triggers at this event?
A: Migraine triggers are a very personal thing. This is a fragrance-free event with low lighting in the ballroom and “golf claps” to limit noise. Our Brain-healthy Bites and Mocktails will list all ingredients. If in doubt, feel free to bring your own healthy snacks.
